Italian Cream Cake

Ingredients:

1 stick margarine
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
2 cups sugar
5 egg yolks
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 small can flaked coconut
1 up chopped nuts ( I use pecans )
5 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Frosting
1 Pkg. ( 8 oz. cream cheese) softened
1/2 stick margarine
1 box powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla



Instructions:

Cream margarine and shortening, add sugar and beat well, until smooth. Add egg yolks, and beat well. Combine flour and soda, and add to creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla, fold in egg whites. Pour into three greased and floured 8 or 9 inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degree for 25 minutes or until test done. Cool. Frost with following frosting.
