PopPop Chocolate Fudge

6 cups white sugar
5 heaping T cocoa
1 1/4 cup white karo
1/2 cup whipping cream
1 1/2 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla
1 T butter


Mix ingredients in large sauce pan except butter and vanilla. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Reduce heat and cook till it reaches 240 on a candy thermometer. Cool. After it has cooled for a while add the butter and vanilla. Cool more by setting pot in cold water. Beat with large spoon until it changes from a shiny apperence to a dull. Pour out immediately into a buttered platter or two. Let set then cut into squares.
