Pumpkin Muffins

1 2/3 cup sifted plain flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp pumpkin-pie spice
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 can pumpkin
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup raisins (golden)


Optional: you can substitute self rising flour for the first 4 ingredients. Raisins regular if you don't have golden. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and flour 20 to 22 muffin tins. Sift together first four ingredients, add spices. Cream butter; add sugar gradually and continue to cream. Beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with pumpkin and water. Stir to bend only until flour disappers. Stir in raisins. Fill muffin tins 1/2 to 2/3 full. Bake 15 to 16 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of a muffin comes out clean. Turn out to cool.
