Devil Food Cake (Mrs. Roy)

1/2 cup shortening
2 T salad oil
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cup sifted flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1 cup milk
2 sq. melted cocoa
1 tsp vanilla


Cream shortening throughly and add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat throughly. Sift flour once then measure. Add the soda, salt and sift together three more times. Add flour, alternately with milk, small amounts at a time. beat after each addition. Add vanilla and cocoa. Mix well. Bake in two round pans 40 minutes at 350 degrees. See Recipe for Brown Sugar Icing or Chocolate Icing.
