Sammie's Swiss Steak

2 lbs round steak, 1 in. thick
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 cup flour
3 T shortening
1 minced onion
1 can mushroom soup
1 cup milk


Pound steak and cut into 6 or 8 portions. Rub seasonings into meat. Dredge on both sides with flour. Melt shortening in skillet and brown meat quickly on both sides. Place in baking pan. Pour onion, soup, and milk over meat. Cover baking pan tightly. (you can use aluminum foil). Bake in 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs.
