Sausage and Egg Pie

6 eggs
6 link sausages, cooked
2 T butter
1 tsp anchovy paste (optional)
1 cup canned sliced mushrooms, drained
Ground cloves
Cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 cup cream sauce
1/2 recipe of pie crust
2 T heavy cream
1/4 cup dry sherry


Blend butter and anchovy paste together and spread mixture on the bottom of a 9 inch plate. Cover with mushroom slices. Arrange sausages "spoke fashion" on the mushrooms and break an egg into each space between the sausages. Season with a dash of cloves, a few grains of cayenne pepper and salt. Add mustard to cream sauce and pour over the eggs. Roll the pie crust 1/8 inch thick and cover the pie with the crust. Make a hole the size of a dime in the center and prick crust with a fork to let steam escape. Brush the crust with cream. Bake in a moderate oven 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until the crust is lightly browned. Remove pie from oven. Pour sherry through the hole in the crust. Return pie to oven and bake for 10 minutes.
