Sirloin Steak and Mushroom Sauce

1 or 2 beef sirloin steaks, cup 1 to 1 1/4 inches thick
1 to 2 T crushed black pepper corns
Sauce from below:

1 Jar (4 1/2 oz) Mushroom slices
4 tsp cornstarch
1 T brown sugar
2 tsp instant beef bouillon
2 T brandy
2 T butter


Press pepper corns into both sides of steak with palm of hand. Cover with wax paper and refrigerate 30 minutes. Place steaks on grill. Cook at moderate temperature, turning steaks and seasoning cooked side with salt after half the estimated cooking time. Season second side with salt when removed from grill. Steaks cut 1 inch thick require 12 to 15 minutes for rare and 18 to 20 minutes for medium. Steaks cut 1 1/4 inch thick require 20 to 23 minutes for rare and 25 to 28 for medium. Serve with Brandied Mushroom Sauce if desired. Drain Mushrooms, reserving liquid in 2 cup measure. Add water to total 1 1/2 cups liquid. Combine cornstarch, brown sugar and instant beef bouilln in small sauce pan. Gradually add liquid and brandy, stirring until smooth. bring to a boil and boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add mushroom slices and butter and continue cooking slowly 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
